Why market on the web?
13th November, 2009
In June 2009, there were 48,755,000 internet users in the United Kingdom. There are about 61,113,205 people living in the UK. This means that 79.8% of the population use the internet.* So when done properly, marketing on the web has the potential to reach millions of people.
A few more reasons:
It's cheap: When you compare internet marketing to tradtional print advertising, you'll find that not only is advertising space cheaper, but that it is also available for longer and, in most cases, can be easily modified.
It's effective: Search engine optimisation (SEO) and other forms of internet marketing are mostly non-invasive for your potential leads and allow them to come to you. This means that not only does internet marketing allow you to communicate with more people... it also helps you target the right kind of people.
It's measurable: Advertising in magazines and newspapers is expensive. But it is also difficult to measure the number of leads generated from a particular campaign. Using analytics software to monitor website traffic allows you to clearly see which campaigns are working and which campaigns are falling flat.
It lasts longer: When done properly, you'll see the effects of a good internet marketing campaign for weeks and months. Particularly with SEO, which concentrates specifically on organic search rankings, the changes that you make have very positive long-term effects.
Of course, it's best to keep up with your SEO maintenance as you never know when your competitors will start optimising for your keywords.
